Introduction

The 10th regional meeting of the GDLN's East Asia & pacific Association was held from July 11 to 13 in Hanoi.

The aims of the meeting were to:

  1. Welcome the HCMC DLC to the EAP GDLN
  2. Introduce and exchange views with new partners and demonstrate the value of the EAP GDLN
  3. Identify innovative uses of the GDLN and other related communication tools that could be used to expand outreach, policy dialogue and development impact
  4. Identify business development opportunities for content provision through the GDLN and other academic, research and trade networks operated by regional universities and organizations
  5. Propose a framework for an "Innovation Program Development Fund
  6. Conduct a Distance Learning Center (DLC) Management Business Meeting

This session will review GDLN uses and applications from the perspective of donors and DLC managers with a focus on innovation and best practice. Short presentations will be made by DLC Managers and GDLN Program Partners highlighting innovative applications of the GDLN for regional capacity building, policy dialogue, knowledge sharing and dissemination.

Session 3: Emerging GDLN Content Opportunities

This session will underscore the need to generate a regular stream of high value GDLN content. Expanding on the previous day's sessions, discussion will revolve around identifying business development opportunities for content provision through the GDLN and other academic, research and trade networks operated by regional universities and organizations that have a commitment to the distance learning paradigm and the skills and capacity to support it. DLC Managers, technology experts and World Bank staff will identify key issues and opportunities.
