Invitation to ASEAN, AusAid Book Launch Seminar via GDLN Videoconference

As ASEAN heads toward the establishment of an Economic Community (AEC) by 2015, a new book “Brick by Brick The Building of an ASEAN Economic Community” which brings together authoritative studies on key issues and challenges will be launched on December 11, 2007 via a videoconference seminar sponsored by The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid) and The ASEAN Secretariat.

Published under the auspices of the ASEAN Australia Development Cooperation Program’s Regional Economic Policy Support Facility, the book was edited by Dr. Denis Hew, Senior Fellow, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore, based on studies undertaken from 2002 – 2007.

Participants in Tokyo can join the session at the TDLC from 13:00 – 15:00. In addition to Dr. Hew, featured speakers include Mr. Sundram Pushpanathan, Principal Director, Bureau for Economic Integration and Finance, ASEAN Secretariat on “Rolling Out the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint”.  Discussions will also cover the outcomes of the recent ASEAN Summit in Singapore focusing on the AEC Blueprint.
