To kick-start a new program created by the TDLC, “Orphan Meets Artist, Artist Meets Orphan”, an inaugural event will be held to provide insight on the role of art in development.
Throughout the year, various Japanese artists will be invited to work on a creative project with orphans in Africa, collaborating through videoconference.
Art and its potential as a medium to further poverty reduction will be explored transcending borders and other traditional barriers via the GDLN.
For the launch, Tatsuo Miyajima, internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, will talk about how art can be used to help resolve global issues. Wasswa Biriggwa, Ambassador, Embassy of Republic of Uganda, will also attend to open the event and give a presentation on his country.
