Asia-Pacific economies and their different financial regulatory systems have been impacted in different ways by the ongoing global financial crisis.
There is a need to examine the relationships between financial regulation, deregulation, and the financial crisis. The impact of lax regulation, the right type of regulatory system, and global cooperation on financial regulation are also important to review.
This seminar aims to share knowledge and experience from the Asia-Pacific, with its diverse policies and practices in financial regulation and deregulation providing sound bases for comparison and analyses.
Focus will be on:
-relationships between financial regulation, deregulation, and the financial crisis;
-type of regulatory system to be established after the crisis;
-establishment of a global financial regulatory system for recommendation to policymakers to address the crisis and to promote healthy, long-term economic development
