  1. post-disaster recovery planning, lessons learned
  2. risk financing and new financial products of the World Bank
  3. local approaches to disaster risk management

Within these three areas of focus, six sessions were held between December 2008 and June 2009, delivered via videoconference, connecting six countries in the region.

Session 1:

Session 1 focused on post-disaster recovery planning, aiming to share country experiences of past recovery programs from severe natural disasters, and to draw lessons to improve future recovery planning.

This session was presented in collaboration with International Recovery Platform Jakarta.pdf (360 Kb), Kobe City Kobe.pdf (2.5Mb), Hyogo Prefecture Hyogo.pdf (1.7 Mb), Aceh Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency Aceh.pdf (528 Kb) and provided a valuable opportunity for the participating countries to learn from Japan and Indonesia’s experience in disaster risk management.
