The World Bank East Asia and Pacific Disaster Risk Management team, in collaboration with the Global Development Learning Network (GDLN), has started a learning and knowledge sharing seminar series on post-disaster recovery planning, risk financing, and disaster risk management from December 2008. Session 3 focused on local government approaches to disaster risk management. This session provided participants with an understanding of the Climate Resilient Cities Primer;
・ As a city planner, how can the Hotspots assessment tool be used to identify vulnerabilities and start the process of prioritizing action?
・ What is the process in completing the matrix and acting on it?, and
・ How can a city compile its information base and what role do scientific institutes/ partners and community groups play in this process?
・ A short opening and introduction of participants, program and objectives
・ A brief overview of AusAID work on urban climate change and disaster risk management efforts
・ Presentation on the Climate Resilient Cities Primer
・ Presentation of Makati City on its programs to mainstream climate change and DRM into urban management
・ Q&A and general discussion
