The first session of the Training of Trainers on Microfinance course was held February 17. The Asian Development Bank Institute, the United Nations Capital Development Fund, and the Tokyo Development Learning Center jointly developed and supported the course.

Jo Woodfin (right, main screen) of the UNCDF participated from New York. Joining her was Heather Clarke, former head of the UNCDF's microfinance unit
The highly innovative approach being followed in this program is to combine three types of technologies to tie the course together: CD-ROM, web-based discussion, and videoconferencing via the GDLN.

The ADBI's Heather Montgomery joined the opening seminar from Sri Lanka
The first two-hour session connected approximately 130 participants from 8 sites: Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Vietnam, Philippines, Timor Leste, Japan, and the United States. Three further sessions will be held before the conclusion of the course in mid-May.
