Hitotsubashi Alumni Discuss Surging Inflation

Hitotsubashi University’s Third Annual Asian Public Policy Program (APPP) Alumni Seminar was held on June 17, 2008 connecting the TDLC with Beijing, Hanoi, Jakarta and Manila. These “virtual” gatherings offer an opportunity for alumni, spread out across the region, to strengthen ties and discuss current public policy issues.

Moderated by Professor Masahiko Takeda, with Professor Shinji Asanuma, Professor Masako Ii, Assistant Professor Shigeki Kunieda in attendance at the TDLC, the subject for discussion was “Surging Inflation and Policy Challenges”. Alumni in Beijing, Hanoi, Jakarta and Manila each gave a presentation on inflation in their own country, answering questions on how to cope with the simultaneous occurrence of a global slowdown and surging inflation.
